Our First Journey: The Beginning of Travel Trails
Every journey has a beginning, and for Travel Trails, our own began with two travellers, a suitcase full of memories to be made and the beautiful island of an experience to take part in.
We are thrilled to share with you the successful completion of our first ever tour, and the warm welcome of our first guests, Julia Crouch and her husband, onto the beginning of their Sri Lankan holiday.
For us it marked not only the beginning of successfully providing trips in Sri Lanka, but the opportunity for us to bring to life our vision for Travel Trails - the creation of personal, comfortable and memorable journeys for our guests, allowing them to experience Sri Lanka in their own way.
Where it all began
Julia and her husband began their Sri Lankan journey at Tree Trails Sigiriya, where they spent three days, surrounded by the peace and tranquility of the jungle, experiencing the beauty of Sigiriya and its wonderful attractions, all the while enjoying the comfort and hospitality of our sister property.
Their stay in Sigiriya was the beginning of a journey of many different landscapes and experiences throughout Sri Lanka for Julia, her husband and our first ever guests.
From Sigiriya to Ella
Their journey continued to the beautiful hill country of Ella, from the dry zone landscapes and cultural heritage of the Cultural Triangle, the change in scenery to the misty mountains, greenery and cool hill-country air of Ella was quite an experience.
As Travel Trails, we aim to create possibilities for our guests to experience this variety of landscapes, without the hassle of organising everything themselves.
A journey through history in Polonnaruwa
Julia's itinerary also included a visit to Polonnaruwa, allowing them the opportunity to experience yet another side to Sri Lanka, as they unearthed history with a visit to this fascinating ruined city.
For us, it is experiences like this that make up a great journey in Sri Lanka, and not only discovering the beauty of the island through its landscapes but also learning about the culture and history which make Sri Lanka such a fascinating destination.
Ending by the beach in Negombo
From visiting the Cultural Triangle and hill-country of Ella, their journey continued on to Negombo, where they could finish their journey in Sri Lanka, relaxing along the western coast.
Finishing off by the beach was a great way for Julia and her husband to unwind and take in a different side to Sri Lanka, before they departed home.
From visiting the jungle, to history, mountains and ending by the beach, in just one journey, Julia and her husband had the opportunity to experience four very different sides to Sri Lanka.
Our first trip, our first memories
As our very first Travel Trails guests, Julia and her husband will always have a special place in our hearts.
Their journey gave us the opportunity to experience what our vision for Travel Trails was all about, providing a personal service, flexible itineraries, reliable transportation and the support of a local team to create a wonderful Sri Lankan holiday for our guests, all the while taking care of the small details.
